I am thinking about applying silk, in full strength glue  ( what kind or what else?) over a metallic painted wall between the counter top and cupboard bottom, part of which is painted over small tiles.  To "waterproof" ?   yacht varnish or some kind of polyurethane?  The silk to be the final, decorative layer.   Need some layer(s) of opaque material first, to bare wall & tiles.   What?
