Looking for information on an Artist from the 1950's

She did paper mache figures. I believe she was from New Englend ( maybe Road Island) I know she did one of a bearded old man w/ bottles and one of and old lady w/ shawl selling flowers. They had round bases and were very detailed in form and painted. I had these two (8-10 inches tall) and they are numbered (each between 1 and 12) and sighned, hand made, and extodinary. Her name may have been Dee something. My ex took them and has mysteriously lost them. Forgot the artist name and am looking for information on these works. Thanks to any one with information.

That's not much to go on...  You might try checking old PM or paper art or folkart books from the library system.

Unless you could possibly mean Gemma Tacogna:  http://www.papiermache.co.uk/articles/gemma-tacogna/
