countering newspaper acidity

I'm sure this isn't new, so please excuse the repetition.
I want my PM to show the original newspaper base but I'm wondering about how to keep it white (ish). I know there are products to treat the paper, but what about adding baking soda to wallpaper paste?

Re: countering newspaper acidity

The main problem with leaving newspaper 'au naturel' is that it is a very low-grade of paper to start with, and is easily a victim of air, moisture and sunlight.

Here is an article on perserving newspaper clippings, which might be helpful: http://lists.acomp.usf.edu/pipermail/ge … 04344.html

Several coats of varnish over your finished project may help, too.
