how to make/use draped cloth

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone her could give me some info on how to make or use cloth, drape it with the folds wanted, then make that look permanent or rather harden the cloth in a large scale paper mache project. Thanks for the tips in advance.

I just dip white cotton   sheets in white glue and then drape it over the papier mache figure.I have also used actual items of clothes and dipped in white glue.

For small projects, the thinner fabrics are best.

It's a good idea to kind of squeegee the excess glue out of the fabric; it should be moist, not dripping.

Yes, although putting the folds in will be tough I think.  You will have to squeeze it out really well.  You might consider letting it dry just a little bit first.  Mayby a lot first actually.  Then fold, unfold and drape.  Good luck.

Re: how to make/use draped cloth

You can make out of paper layers "cloth" or even .
take diluite in water white glue ( carpenter's glue) ,
spread it with a brush over a plastic surface, spread paper : fine white paper ( the one that is used to wrap clothes you buy at a boutique or if you buy glass and such.
you repeat the action at least five times- five layers of paper. you can gather the paper and stick it where you want the cloth to be. when dry, it is hard and solid. ( not as a rock)
you can layer the layers and produce a layered garment.
Good luck!
