plaster of paris

I am helping my daughter with her homecoming parade float.  I made a large faucet with a handle out of wire mesh (chicken wire).  I was wondering if I could use a mixture of plaster of paris and water with newspaper instead of the normal flour and water mixture?

Re: plaster of paris

Hi Pam,

You can put plaster of paris in if you wish (all sorts of things can be added to give strength). A cheaper alternative would be polyfilla. If you do use one of these though it will make the finished item rather weighty! Also you would have to work like the clappers as it would dry very quickly. There are other alternatives to flour and water paste (see "Getting Started").

Hope it goes well!  big_smile
