Hello. My wife and I are new members and have an interest in learning more about sculpting with paper-mache in order to inspire more of our creative expression and encourage artistic development. We have been actively working with clay for two years since our retirement.
We do free-hand sculpting and carving with rotary tools, and focus mostly on equine figurines using our basic, fertile imaginations. Have much time on our hands now!
My wife is a retired equine veterinarian and we actively ride, train, and breed a line of Iberian horses.
We have collected a few nice pieces of paper-mache sculpture including horse, cat, and dog figurines. We are currently looking for various learning formats to learn from, including structured curricula, summer and all-day camps, home school workshops, and adult workshops.
In reading through past posts, we have seen that there is a good deal of interest in Gemma Toccagna and her work. Indeed, we too have also found that there is very little information out there on the web, including paper-mache artwork of hers for sale. In order to help fuel our 'higher education' in the area of paper-mache sculpture, we have decided to sell one of our pieces of Gemma's. We have 'The Cat' listed on Ebay right now, which we thought that the Forum members might have an interest in seeing. It is Item number: 180098790376 with an end date of Mar-27-07 12:59:28 PDT. We have three good photos on the listing showing nice close-ups of this beautiful piece of hers. We would have loved to have had the priviledge of mentoring with her!
We look forward to being members! Thanks, Stephen & Elliana
