Help! I am thinking of having a go at making marionettes, I have been experimenting with layered paper on cardboard armatures and then attaching the pieces to rods. The resulting dragon looks great but the joints were difficult and sometimes his legs turn the wrong way round. I started by using wire loops attached to each piece, these were then tied together with ribbon. I don't know how to approach the jointing, particularly as I plan to have a go at a humanoid figure next.
Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone come across any good books on the subject?

Hi
I can't help with any knowledge on this. Have you tried looking in the gallery as there are people in there who make marionettes. You could email them and ask for help.

Thanks for this, I managed to miss this website in my trawl for info, probably because I fixated on the word marionette. I will also keep looking through the gallery.
How is the lampshade project going?

On the strength of your reply I checked my PVA levels and discovered they are worryingly low. Time to go shopping.
Thank you again for the PuppetsandStuff website. I have joined and they are a lovely bunch. So for anyone else who is thinking of having a go at puppets I recommend them.
Cheers,
Charlotte
