Re: Information about the Papier-Mache Arist Gemma Taccogna?

I think that is the book I originally heard about her from Catperson. I now I first heard of Gemma from a book I took out from the library.

I am so sorry to hear that you were ill paperartist. You have all my sympathy since I had a doozy of a flu myself that had me on the couch for two weeks. I hope you are feeling better now. It is so nice to here that Gemma is doing  well and is planning to start teaching art classes again soon.  It makes me wish I wasn't so far, far away.

Thanks for the link!

That's wonderful, Paper artist.  Thanks for posting those.  Are they all PM?    It is very kind of Gemma to allow her material to be shared.  Perhaps just some of it might be brought together in an article?  Does it naturally subdivide into different subject/chapter areas?
If I can help in any way, just let me know.

Yes DavidO, what a great idea!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Gemma could put together some sort of online course or tutorial?

I would love to learn anything she had to teach!  wink

Re: Information about the Papier-Mache Arist Gemma Taccogna?

Hi all,
Yes, everything I posted on Gemma's gallery is Papier Mache except the head vase which is ceramic.
I can tell you that Gemma has many close friends and admirers that visit her often. We have talked about video taping her classes. One man is planning on taping her conversations on a new tape recorder I saw yesterday. We all want to preserve the magic she shares with us whenever we are with her.
I, for one, visit her as often as I can. Being around her is always inspirational and energizing.
Gemma is living in a nursing home now. She has been on oxygen for a few years. She blames smoking cigarettes, which was so much the style years ago.
She hasn't been well enough to dictate anything for this forum, but I want to tell you how much this means to her. She is just thrilled that you all take such interest in her and thoroughly enjoys all of your correspondences.
I have read them all to her.
I will get her book back from the copier tomorrow. I could only post 20 pictures on her gallery so I'll have to find another way to post pages from her book.
Gemma believes that sharing, or teaching, is the most important thing you can do in life. She says teaching makes you alive and students are a gift that give back more than you can ever give.
I am looking forward to sharing more with you all.
You are a treasure to her.
So....more later.

paperartist,
Jackie

Re: Information about the Papier-Mache Arist Gemma Taccogna?

I really hope she ends up video taping some of her classes, paperartist. I think that is the only way I will ever really get to experience her work.

I am very happy to hear that Gemma has many close friends and admirers that visit her often. I would of never guess that working in papier-mache is as respected as it is. It all puts a smile on my face.

Please let her know that as happy as she is to hear from us in this form I was very happy to find out what she is doing these days through your wonderful posts to us. I must admit when I first made this post and no one really knew anything I thought that would be the way the story ended. I am overjoyed by the coincidence that you would find me looking for Gemma! What a small and wonderful world it really is.
