Hello everyone,
I’ve recently had the wonderful (or not so wonderful idea) or starting an interesting project.
Its basically consists of papier maching a guitar.
I was thinking of purchasing a guitar, sand off the already put varnish and paint and to papier maché the body of the guitar.
Weather this sounds absurd or not I’m still going to try it and I was wondering if anyone would have any tips or ideas that I could use to actually make this happen.
Any comments would be very appreciated,
Pascal.
P.s. After reading a few tips I’ll start making a weekly update on the project for everyone interested.

yes i was planing on using a real guitar.
one of my friends offered me a free one to try my idea out
and if all goes well, i might actually go and buy a good quality guitar to do it with.
at the moment im still cutting all the images from various press we have here, im thinking of doing a sort of collage.
pictures to come soon.

A papier mache guitar is just a kind of cartoon of a guitar -- it won't be useful as a real guitar. The reverberation of sound that the wood provides won't be there, whether you make your guitar from scratch or pm over a real guitar. The pm will act like exactly like insulation, deadening sound. So don't waste your money on a good guitar for this purpose. What you're making will just be a visual prop that looks like a guitar. It would never sound like one.
