Lightest, Strongest PM

Hi again;
     What is the lightest and strongest instant PM available? Is layering
superior to the instant pulp type?  If so, what paper and adhesive is
the most durable for its weight?
                                                                  Best Wishes;
                                                                  Matt

Re: Lightest, Strongest PM

I'm not as familiar with pulp.  But as far as layering goes, copy paper is probably strongest but won't allow for very smooth finish unless it's really done right.  In my opinion, nothing works better than shop-quality paper towels (Like Scott's blue Shop Towels).  It has a higher tensil strength than newsprint.  Regular white glue or wallpaper paste is a good adhesive.

Re: Lightest, Strongest PM

All the instant pm that I have researched have fillers added:  plaster, starch, etc.  All this adds weight.  IMO, strip mache is much lighter.  A cotton-based handmade paper may be stronger than newspaper, but I haven't tried it.  I'm just thinking that the longer fiber length would add strength.
