Re: Car

When you say "a full size convertible car", do you mean a model or an actual functional car?
If a model, read all the material in the articles and tutorials about laminating and then ask any questions you might have.
If an actual functioning car, check safety regulations, strength stipulations etc because paper, whether laminate or pulp on its own would not meet normal requirements. smile

Re: Car

Hello I would like to refraise my topic.  I would like to make a full scale model of a 1963 corvette convertible.  All i want to make is the outside frame of it.  How would i go about doing that if i don't have a car to work with and all i have is some pictures and dimensions of it.

Re: Car

big_smile I think that is great, I have made a horse, that is large enough to wear in costume form even made the saddle covered with felt looks like a very old Trigger, so a car to me would be just fine. I'v always wanted a convertable. My hyusband has said very impractiable. Mordine

Re: Car

Full size.  Blimey!
Some people would talk of chicken mesh to make the main shapes and layer or pulp on it.  Some of those would talk about the cuts and bleeding too!
If you have a clay soil or a sand which, when damp, will mould quite well, you could model the shape you want, cover it with thin plastic and then layer.   You need a very strong laminate though and will risk distortion.
Let's hope some others can offer alternative methods.
