cracking PM

A number of my PM pieces that are several years old are beginning to crack. More hairline cracks than very large ones. Most of my pieces are done in the layered  newspaper strips and flour and paste method.

Would like to hear from you if this is usual, or unusual, and if there is anything to be done to avoid this.

Broken hearted.

Re: cracking PM

So sorry to hear about your precious pieces.   I would think that adding something to your paste (like strong, pliable wood glue) would help.  Also using a stronger grade of paper like the thicker advertising magazines or pamplets to finish out the final layers would also help. There are lots of people who buy cotton and specialty papers who swear by it for it's strength and durability.
