several questions

What is styropolene? Where does one usually purchase it?

I find it difficult to sand by hand as I have a weakened wrist. Has anyone found a power tool that is small and won't rip the papier mache  or pulp?

Re: several questions

I dont know where in the world you live, but over here in australia there is a small sanding machine made by black and decker called a mouse.
It is about the size of a computer mouse and works really well. It has a pointed tip for getting into corners, crevices etc and a flat surface for larger areas. The amount of sanding depends on the pressure you place on it. It is very egonomic as well , shaped to fit in the palm of your hand.

Re: several questions

I looked up styropolene and didn't find anything on it. Are you sure your spelling that right?

As for a small sanding tool, you can also use a Dremel. Its an electric handle with small sanding and polishing bits, they will even fit in your electric drill. This is an excellent tool for really small projects. Hope this helps.  smile
