Strengthening projects

I have used 7 layers of paper with a mixture of pva and wallpaper paste glue and my pm projects feels flimsy.  What can I use to make the pm stronger and harder? :?:

Re: Strengthening projects

Hi Pinkpaint from Switzerland big_smile
Can you say a bit more about your projects.  For a boat to cross Lake Lucerne, or a 2m statue for your front garden, 7 layers would be a bit flimsy.  Or, as a chair, it wouldn't take anyone's weight.
???

Re: Strengthening projects

I have made a bowl about 12" in diameter, the last two layers are handmade craft paper.

Re: Strengthening projects

Well, 7 layers really ought to be enough.  Are you using quite a thick mix of paste, spread ever so thinly, and pressing the paper firmly layer into layer?
If you are . . and you still want it stronger . . . just put on more layers.  I have just been reading about someone putting 20 layers on a model - nearly as hard as iron.
