Other image formats in the Gallery?

I was wondering if you'd consider allowing other image formats, besides jpgs, in the Gallery?  In particular, I'm thinking of gifs, but pngs or bmps are two other possibilities.  You could put a size cap on them (let's say 500 KB for the purpose of conversation) to prevent people from uploading large files that take up too much space.

Hi there,

We could potentially add support for this if there was a demand for it. Though I'm not sure why you'd have photographs in GIF format (which is limited to 256 colours)? What's your use-case out of interest?

Re: Other image formats in the Gallery?

My usage for gifs is 360 degree rotating animations of papier mache figures, which, are, in my opinion, vastly superior to static images for depicting a 3-dimensional object, like so:

This particular one is composed of 16 frames and is 167 KB in size.

I don't know how much interest there would be amongst the other members for different image formats though.

I believe your response, above, was meant for the thrift store glue thread, not this one.  But, yeah, it's always a good idea to take a cruise past the arts & crafts section--I only bought toys, as usual, when I was there yesterday, but I made it a point to look for glue too.
