This is a piece I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I built it with a wire armature as usual. After papering it and laying a coat of white gesso down, I painted flat blocks of color with acrylic and then went back and did all of the detailing in oil. This is becoming a great way for me to work and I think the benefits are apparent. There is also wood detailing on the plaque instead of a solid stained look.
