Alebrijero.
Alebrijes is one of many Mexican craft made with a technique very similar to papier maché. In Spanish, we call that technique "cartoneria" which is also used to make the famous "piñatas"
I started making sculptures with carton board, for a specific Halloween activity on one of my kid´s school. We won the first price and a 15% discount on the schools monthly fee, so we decided to participate again the next year... after noting that making stuff with carton board was extremely enjoyable, I started to get deeper into it, and started taking an "Alebrije" intensive course with "Maestro Morales", a local craftsman. And then some paint classes, and a lot of research on materials and what other people around the world are doing with recycled materials...
