giant walk-through papier mache beehive--HOW???

Any ideas?  We're making a walk-through beehive and are wondering how to go about with papier mache.

Re: giant walk-through papier mache beehive--HOW???

Paul,
Some questions need to asked, Paul. Is this structure a permanent creation or temporary? If permanent you'll need to consider some wall and center support. If you intend to use all recyclable, readily available materials, I would suggest beginning your design with tubes from upholstery shops. These heavy-duty corrugate tubes come in lenghts of up to four feet. These tubes could be used as wall support.

Build one wall at a time using corrugate sheeting. Afix the flat corrugate to the tubes. You'll have to plan well so that when you put the walls together they'll resemble a beehive structure.

If permanent, you may want to incorporate something more rigid into your structure.

Hope this helps you get started.
Karen

Hi Karen:

Would you please tell me more about these tubes and what upholsterers would use them for?  They sound invaluable for PM.  Also, does anyone have a source in the US for large (4ft by 4ft for example) polystyrene/styrofoam?

Thank you so much!
