Rotating animations set-up

I get asked about how I make the rotating 360 degree animations for my figures fairly frequently, so I thought I'd take some pictures of the set-up I use for shooting them.  I take sixteen photographs of the figure (one every 22.5 degrees) and then upload them all as separate layers, within a single image file, in a free art program called GIMP.  I then crop out any unwanted excess space, perform any additional edits, if necessary, and then save the whole shebang as an animated gif file (loop forever with a 140 millisecond delay between frames).

Very clever.  Thanks for such a clear explanation.

Wow ... thanks!  This will totally come in handy.  I was thinking I'd always need some kind of turn table if I were going to do this ... I love the 'manual' pencil on paper technique!

A turntable would also be a good way to go about it; I'm just a quick & dirty, duct-tape-and-chicken-wire type of guy when I do things.

Re: Rotating animations set-up

Hi Mark. An elegantly simple technique and explanation. The tip on  "GIMP" also great. Thanks for sharing.
