storing papier mache objects

Hi, I recently purchased a rather large papier mache figure. It is now wrapped in paper and then lots of bubble paper. Is it o.k. to leave it wrapped like this for 6 months? Thanks so much for your help.

Re: storing papier mache objects

Hi!

I'd avoid using bubble wrap if I were you, or any other plastic wrapping. Papier mache needs to be able to "breathe". I'd recommend some tissue lightly wrapped round then maybe a towel or blanket draped loosely round it. Six months is a long time however. It would be better not to wrap it up at all really. It also needs to be kept at roughly the same humidity. See "Conservation of papier mache" article: http://www.papiermache.co.uk/exec/cms-d … iew/id-30/

Hope this helps.
