Hey so i'm constructing Three Giant letters for my sorority Alpha Sigma Tau, I've used pouldtry netting to construct the frames and havn't started paper meche-ing but i already have my first obstacle.
While the A and the T stand up right the sigma can only stand up sideways. (A sigma is like a sideways M, so it will stand up like an M, but as sson as i try to get it to stand like a sigma what would be the 3 legs of the M colapse on one another.
What can i do to make tit stronger so it can stand like a sigma. I don't mean free standing just so they don't colapse on one another.
If anyone has any ideas PLEASE post back!

Hi!
Chicken wire on its own will not be strong enough. It wil need a skeleton of thick wire or strips of wood to keep its shape.
As your shape of chicken wire is already made, you could try to ease some strong wire into it. Ideally this should be done first but if you are careful it may be OK.

You might also try 3/8" steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar). It tends to be fairly cheap, & is avail at most building materials sources, incl. retail. You could ease it through the wire so it's inside, and wire it in place. The rebar has ridges on it, so if you tie the wire fairly tightly, it shouldn't slip.
Many places will cut rebar for you (if you don't need too many cuts), or they may charge a nominal price after so many free cuts. Be sure to go armed with the exact lengths you need. It's hard to cut youself.
